Frequently asked questions
Q. Can a scout do the entire snow sports badge at the Skioree?
A. Yes and NO. In the past we have offered both the indoor and outdoor sections of the merit badge. After reflection of this it has been decided that any requirement which states discuss, explain, or write should be done in writing and will be checked during a new time Friday night. The on snow section will be held as usual by meeting at 12:00 at the designated area.
Q. Can siblings and family attend?
A. Yes!! This event is open for family and friends. It is up to the Scout Troop which is hosting these guests to have emergency contact and information on hand in the event of an emergency.
Q. Can Webelos attend this event?
A. YES! I encourage the participation of Webelos during this event. This is a great opportunity to work with the Boy Scout Troops which they soon will be joining.
Q. How Much extra $$ should the scouts bring?
A. The troops are responsible for supplying or arranging for lunch. If they are planning on buying lunch, a good lunch from the cafeteria costs in the range of $8-$15 depending on what they want.
Q. Does the Sat Full Mountain Pass include the dinner and breakfast?
A. No, just a regular all day lift ticket. You would also need to pay the "non skier pass" for the Skioree if they plan on eating or staying overnight.
Q. Can I switch rentals from Friday to Saturday, so if I rent a snowboard on Friday I can change to skis on Saturday?
A. They ARE NOT ASSURED but have been able to switch from snow board to skies or vice-versa for Sat. Snowboards may need to be returned on Friday night. Skis may be kept overnight. The scouts will need to ask to keep their shoes so they can wear something inside or bring another pair.
Q. Can the rental included in the Skioree scout package be skis, snowboards or ski-boards?
A. The scout package includes skis and/or snowboards. Ski-boards cost an additional rental fee per day.
Q. In the past there have been some time concerns on Friday night with tickets. Is there anything in the plans to help with this?
A. YES!! We have had some problems with tickets and printing. This year I am attempting to make arrangements to have GP staff on hand to take care of the tickets so I and the other committee members of my troop can handle the payments.
