Fall-Taughannock District, Environmental Challenge Camporee

 
Scouts need to determine which MB they would like to attend so we can send numbers by Oct. 8. Scouts will only have time to attend 1 MB class. The maximum capacity for each MB will be 25 scouts. Reservations will be handled on a first come first served basis.

   2100: SPL-Scoutmaster Meeting in Visitor Center

17 October 2009-Satday
   0900-1200: MB Sessions
     1) Bird Study: Visitor Center Bird Room
     2) Mammal Study: Snow Pavillion
     3) Reptile and Amphibian Study: Barn
     4) Insect Study: Cooper Conference Room in Visitor Center
     5) Nature- Visitor Center deck and on the move!1200-1300: Lunch by Troop
1200-1300: Lunch
1300-1400: Individual MB Work
1400-1530: "Dan the SnakeMan" Program near Visitor Center
1600-1730: Cornell Raptor Program near Visitor Center
1730- Taps: Troop Time

Special Instructions

    a. Troop Advanced Parties are encouraged to occupy camping areas on Friday afternoon.
    b. All campsites are primitive campsites. No latrines and no running water. Please bring adequate water containers. Potable water will be available at the Visitor Center and Education Center.
    c. Lime Hollow has only one rule, "Leave No Trace".
    d. Fixed bathroom sites will be available at the Gracie Road Education Center, McLean Road Visitor Center
    e. Portable latrines will be available at the Tompkins County parking lot and the Tamarack Art Meadow.

Train-O-Ree  November 14th  special one-day "University" for boy leaders

 

Leaders and Assistants, Patrol Leaders and Assistants, Jr. Asst. Scoutmasters, and any other 
troop boy leaders (or prospective boy leaders selected by the Scoutmaster). This day of training 
will offer extra training for boy leaders, complementing the troop-level Junior Leader Training 
and council-level NYLT. While the boys are engaged in their training course, an interesting 
program will be provided for adult troop leaders and committee members. 

 
Fall Recruitment Incentives for New and returning Scouts. 
All Scouts are entitled to any of the following items or activities: 
-10% off on selected items at Dicks Sporting Goods & Eureka Camping Centers (show BSA membership card) 
-Discounts at Eastern Mountain Sports 
-$2.00 Entrance fee for Museum of the Earth on October 24th 10am to all Scouts in Uniform 
adults pay full admission.
