Camp Barton 2007

Welcome back everyone, summer is almost over and the school and scouting year starts afresh. There are lots of pictures of summer camp at Camp Barton on our photos page, it is easy to see why this is such a popular camp and always well attended. Many thanks to Robin Stedinger, Mark Tate, Mike Thompson, Alison Morris and Jery Stedinger for giving up their time and making the week special for the boys. Thanks to Jery and Mark for the pictures.

World Brotherhood Camporee

Last year the troop attended the camporee in the Thousand Islands area and it was a great success and lots of fun for all. This year the event will be held across the border in Ontario and all are welcome. Troop 2 will be going again, any scouts wishing to attend should let their patrol leader or Mr. Stedinger know as soon as possible as we have to get the red tape taken care of well in advance. For further information, see the official event web site http://www.voyageur.scouts.ca/loyalist/LABrotherhood.htm , or contact Jery Stedinger jrs5@cornell.edu or call 257-8016.

From Scoutmaster Stedinger,

Realistically the Fall is here, it will be an exciting year for our Troop. The World Brotherhood Camporee will be a once in a century experience and we have 23 people signed up. In October is the Taughannock District Fall camporee which will have a hiking-backpacking-survival theme. It should be really exciting.

Popcorn Sales

Scouts can start Fall Popcorn Sales as soon as they wish. Mr. Brock and I have forms with prices and other information at our homes.  Anyone in the troop who wants a form so they can start selling this week can come by and pick one up. I have forms in an envelope on the front porch of my house (120 Kay St) so you can take a form even if I am not home. The troop will continue the popcorn and wreath sales policy from last year that ...  Popcorn orders are due in October.

Recruitment

Scouts should also be thinking about recruitment. Do you have any friends that would enjoy scouting? If so, please invite them to join us at a meeting - why not start with next Monday, September 10th. Successful recruiters get ice cream sundaes and spend time with their friends at scouting activities.

Patrol Leaders Council Meeting

Any Scouts holding troop offices, or who would like to hold a troop office should come to the THURSDAY PLC meeting this week. 7:30 pm at the church. We will discuss offices and plans for troop meetings and outings for the year. Patrol leaders or their representatives need to attend so their patrol is represented.
