This week - Webelos visit troop 2,

At our next meeting, February 12, troop 2 are delighted to welcome senior webelos from Pack 4. Please come along to welcome our younger friends and let's make troop 2 the unit for them to move up to after crossing over. John will run a lashing program and Chris will tell us all about his recent trip to Africa. The Skioree is back on the calendar and details of the event can be found on our site at www.troop2ithaca.org/Skioree or by contacting Timmie Miller from Troop 180, timmie_rn@yahoo.com or call 607-768-1601.

Court of Honor and Scout Sunday,

Scout Sunday was a great success, several units attended, many games were played and an outstanding supper was provided for everyone by Willie and Gretchen Tang. Several scouts stayed to welcome worshippers to FCC for Scout Sunday.

We had a very well attended Court of Honor with refreshments afterwards, provided by the Spartans. Tim Nord made the presentation on behalf of the Friends of Scouting. Merit badges were handed out and scouts had to explain to the audience what was required of them to attain the badge. We had a number of rank  advancements and there are plenty of pictures in our photo archives. Outgoing SPL Benjamin was warmly thanked by Mr. Stedinger and then Sam was sworn in as the new Senior Patrol Leader. In a nice moment of recognition, Jery and Robin Stedinger were presented with the God and Service Award for which they were nominated by our troop sponsor, the First Congregational Church.

Committee Chair Mari Tiwari introduced the committee to everyone and, with Secretary Teri Tate, made a great presentation to the parents on why it was important for them to get involved in the running of the troop. To demonstrate what scouting means to her she had her son K2 (Troop Guide and eldest scout in the troop) stand up front with our youngest scout Miles and she related her enjoyment in watching the development from 1st year scout on.

Klondike emergency preparedness event,

Despite the lack of snow it was plenty cold enough when Troop 2 fielded three patrols for the annual Klondike at Camp Barton and, in keeping with our proud tradition, managed to place all three patrols in the top 10. There are pictures on the troop photos page, if anyone else has photos they would like to add then please get them in to me.
