Scout Sunday and sleepover,

February 3 is the date for our annual overnight at the church and leads into Scout Sunday at First Congregational on Sunday. Bring a sleeping bag and wash gear to the church at 5:30PM on Saturday. We will have lots of fun and games into the night, including a campfire and finally some rest. Bring outdoor clothes so we can play some night games, maybe flashlight tag and capture the flag. Supper and breakfast provided (bring $5). Troop 2 will get together with friends from Troop 4, Venture Crew 2000 and the Girl Scouts. Arrange for pick up at 9:00AM on Sunday unless you are one of the Scouts intending to stay for the service on Sunday, in which case you should bring your uniform.

Court of Honor and annual Friends of Scouting presentation,

February 5 is the date for our next court of honor at which we will celebrate the achievements of our scouts since the start of the school year. The Spartan patrol will provide refreshments and all are welcome. It makes it much more special for the scouts if their families can turn out and it makes for a very pleasant social gathering after the meeting. We will also have a presentation by Liam Murphy on behalf of the Friends of Scouting, this event is one of the chief fundraisers for our council and your support is vital to the continued provision of a great scouting program in our area.

Senior Patrol Leader elections and Ithaca History Center,

Jan. 29 A really interesting visit to the Ithaca History Center (thanks, Mari and the staff at the center) was preceded by our regular opening and then Senior Patrol Leader elections. Sam Brock addressed the troop and made promises to increase game time and work on the program with the Scoutmasters. After answering some questions from the floor Sam was pronounced Sam duly elected by outgoing SPL Benjamin Miller. Thanks to Benjamin for all your work - great job!

Klondike emergency preparedness event,

Despite the lack of snow it was plenty cold enough when Troop 2 fielded three patrols for the annual Klondike at Camp Barton and, in keeping with our proud tradition, managed to place all three patrols in the top 10. There are pictures on the troop photos page, if anyone else has photos they would like to add then please get them in to me.
