Well done on Service Project
Eight scouts (DC, Jacob, John, Kenny, 2 Sams, Nick and Nolan) and three adults (Tim, Robin, and Karen) turned out Monday morning in sweltering heat to haul a truck load of wood chips from the church's upper parking lot into the church gardens. We then spread the woodchips on the garden paths. The Chairwoman of the Church garden committee was very pleased with the quality of the work and helpfulness of the scouts.
Way to go guys!

92 miles around Cayuga Lake
On one of the hottest weekends in a long time, Scoutmaster Stedinger and several scouts decided to make the 92 mile trip around beautiful Cayuga Lake, one again forsaking motor power and resorting to cycling. Everyone had a good time, worked up a really good sweat and felt better by the end of the day. For pictures see our photo archives page.

Court of Honor - June 20, Stewart Park
Again we close out the scouting year with our summer picnic and Court of Honor. Many of the troop's families gathered in Stewart Park to celebrate their scout's achievements, play Frisbee, cook out and catch the evening sun. Garrett was awarded the single highest honor for a scout in our district, The Gorget, and we had boys achieving every rank except for Eagle (need to get the paperwork completed). Ben Farr and Garrett Tate were both awarded palms for their Eagle rank, Ben having reached six and Garrett five - well done both of you! New committee chair, Mari Tiwari, thanked and congratulated our outgoing chair, Jessica Carcich, for two years of outstanding and gracious leadership. Next semester Mark Tate will be the acting Scoutmaster and good luck to Jery and Robin until their return. For pictures of the event please see our updated photo archives.
Warm memories from a scouting parent (Mark Wheeler)
The Court of Honor brings a bit of nostalgia for me. The scouts who make it through the program have a right to be proud of their Troop, as well as their individual accomplishments. The senior class is a great group - they've come a long way from 11 year olds bearing the rank of Scout. They have continued the Troop 2 tradition by focusing on traditional scouting skills and working on their advancement through the ranks. I remember fondly some of the early campouts when they were Tenderfoots!
I offer my special congratulations to Ben, Dan, Carter, Pete and Garrett. Good luck to you all and may the Scout Oath and Scout Law guide you always.
Troop Committee vacancies
Time catches up with all of us and this year sees the standing down of Tom Hirasuna and Jessica Carcich due to their sons reaching adulthood and Diane Beckwith due to outside commitments. We are looking for two, hopefully three, parents to step up and take part in the running of the troop. Unless you take on a position within the committee, responsibilities consist of monthly meetings at FCC during the school year, it is not time consuming and gives an opportunity to get involved with a great bunch of people, scouts and parents.
